Aly & AJ have been composing music for over 17 years, but how well do they know their own songs? Aly Michalka and AJ Michalka — the pair also known as Aly & AJ — cover the May 2022 issue of Stylescaster, the festival issue.
“It was a very special time in music, and it was inseparable from the childhood of a lot of people in the early 2000s,” Ali told StyleCaster for a cover interview with him and AJ about the beginnings of Ali and AJ in the 2000s. “I understand why there’s an attachment to it, just like I’m attached to some of the songs from that era.”
In honor of their cover, we played a game of “Finish the Lyric” with Ally and AJ, where they asked other artists to finish their “Way Way Back”, “Hothouse” and more hit songs from their own discography and discography. In love “In the beginning, you succeed. But the way you move it …” Eli read AJ guessing the rest of the song. “” Bury me, “” AJ guessed. “No. I can’t play this game. ” When Ally reveals to AJ that the song is “Hot House,” AJ replies, “Which we haven’t sung in so long!” Under their band name, 78violet, before the end of their 2013 song lyric. “‘You succeed. But the way you remove it It scares me and you remind me of things I don’t need, ‘AJ sang, successfully finished the song.
When it was Eli’s turn, AJ listened to songs from Aly and AJ’s 2019 song “Church” from their album, Sanctuary. “’I get caught up in every lie. I can’t even stop to take care … ‘”reads AJ Ali, who finished the song immediately. “Leave my own self to someone else,” Ally concluded. For AJ’s second round, Aly reads the lyrics to Aly and AJ’s 2021 song “Way Way Back” from their album, A touch of beet lifts you to your feet and then leads you to the sun.
“We have a lot of memories, including a lot of things …” reads Ally, to whom AJ guessed, “Sorry?” When Ally asked if AJ could remember the song more, she couldn’t think of another song. “Oh my God, this is our song. Out of context, I can’t finish it, “he said, to which Ally asked,” But which song do you know? ” AJ replied, “Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I don’t actually do that.” When the answer was published as “Way Way Back”, AJ said “Oh. My. God. It was very embarrassing.”
