There’s no greater feeling than getting a compliment and answering a dress, “Thank you, it’s vintage.” If anyone knows the joy of finding an incredible archival fashion, this is Vintage-Queen Bella Hadid. The supermodel is known for wearing rare designer vintage pieces and Bella Hadid’s Cannes Film Festival outfit could be her best look.
Every year the Cannes Film Festival runs south of France and reminds us of what a truly festive fashion looks like (sorry, Cochrane). Actors, directors, models and agents landed in the coastal town to walk in red carpet couture gowns and promote the most notable films of the year. Between the layers of pink tulle and silver sequins, Hadid appeared periodically in a spectacular black gown, and as expected, he arrived just in time to steal the show – or, as Gigi Hadid took to his Instagram story earlier this week, “If he’s going to do one thing, he’ll get on a plane to protect the red carpet in the ear … year after year. “
With Anne Hathaway and Eli Fanning in the lead roles, there’s a debate as to whether the red carpet in Kanye really needed to be preserved (you can judge the looks of other celebrities here) – regardless, Bella Hadid must have attended and served. Hadid is decorating the red carpet Innocent 75th Anniversary Screening in a vintage versus gown from the 1987 collection and proving that vintage is always really good.

The strapless dress has created a dramatic hourglass shape with a tight bodice and skirt opposite the papillae around the waist. The skirt of the dress is made of velvet which is reminiscent of classic Old Hollywood movies. Bella Hadid has adopted the “less is more” approach with her stunning diamond teardrop earrings and a single diamond ring as her only accessory. The look was created by notable celebrity stylist, Law Roach, who received the most credit for working with all her best red carpet look genders.

Bella Hadid kept her face dark and consistent with her hair and makeup তার her eyes were pierced with thick black eyeliner and her hair was pulled back in a tight braid (Bella Hadid’s signature look). The few strands of hair on Hadid’s face were thick enough to be considered side-bangs – perhaps this will bring back the next vintage trend model.

As Gigi Hadid mentioned in her Instagram story, this is not the first time that Bela Hadid has dominated the red carpet in Cannes. Hadid has joined the festival in various dramatic combinations in 2016, 2017 and 2021. Most notably, she wore a Shiapareli dress that had a gold brass lung necklace around her chest at last year’s festival. In an interview with Vogue, Bella Hadid said, “I always knew I was going to wear this outfit when I saw it. It was a work of art.”
So far, Kim Kardashian’s vintage Marilyn Monroe Met Gala look was the best thing to pull from the archives, but it’s safe to say she’s got some competition.
