Chicago Mayor Laurie Lightfoot has banned minors from coming from Millennium Park

Chicago Mayor Lorry Lightfoot Has banned young people from Millennium Park On the weekend night after a 16-year-old was killed.

Cindell Holiday was shot in the park at around 7:30 pm on Saturday for unknown reasons. In response to the shooting, Lightfoot banned unaccompanied minors from entering the park after 6 p.m.

Kids will still be allowed to go to the park but with a “responsible” adult. The policy “will be strictly enforced and violations will be dealt with expeditiously,” Lightfoot said in a statement.

Lightfoot added that the city will partner with the school system to educate children about this policy.

“As a city, we must make sure that our young people have a safe place to gather and that they are peaceful and truly safe,” Lightfoot said. “I urge all parents, guardians and caring adults to take action at this time to prevent such a tragedy from happening again and to do what is necessary to encourage appropriate behavior when our young people gather anywhere in our great city.” “

Sandal was shot in the 200 block of East Randolph Street.
