Brittany GreenerHis wife is requesting President Joe Biden To help bring his wife home.
The seven-time WNBA All-Star was detained at Russia’s Moscow airport when he was found to have found in his luggage oil cartridges containing marijuana. He has been in custody since February and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
In an interview with Good Morning America, Greener’s wife, Cheryl, revealed Greener texted him as soon as he learned of his problem. About 100 days after Brittany’s arrest, Cheryl said she could not speak again, only communicating sporadically by letter.
Cherelle shares with ABC Good morning America That he now wants to talk to Biden about bringing the WNBA star back to the country.
“I just hear, ‘He has power,’ ‘he’s a political pawn.’ If they hold him because they want you (Biden) to do something, I want you to do it.
Greener’s original detention was due to end on May 19, but Russia has extended his pre-trial detention by another month.
His wife says Greener did not want to play abroad but could not make enough money just playing in the WNBA.
“BG would love to go abroad (to play) with all his heart,” said his wife. “In those nine years he’s only had a Thanksgiving in the state that he was a pro, and he misses all those things because he can’t make enough money at WNBA to sustain his life.”
Although Cherelle was “grateful” for receiving a call from Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, she would like to see further action.
“You say he’s the top priority, but I want to see it, and I want to see that I see BG on US soil. At the moment, I don’t even know who I will be when he returns. “
