Forty-four-year-old Timothy “Loles” Harnett had previously been convicted of sexual misconduct and sentenced to 14 years in prison on May 14, 1999, for threatening a 15-year-old girl with a razor. In that incident, Harnett forcibly locked the girl in a hotel room and sexually abused her for hours. He was released from prison in December 2020, ending his parole in September 2021.
This year, between April 29 and May 2, Harnett arrested a 28-year-old woman and placed her in an abandoned three-story building in the Bronx. While holding her hostage, Harnett rapes her several times a day. He was able to escape with the help of a passerby.
According to prosecutors, the two went to the top of the building after Harnett offered to pay the woman for sex.
