It’s the wedding season and deciding who I will marry one day has never been less on my to-do list. When saving invitations and dates on my kitchen counter, I have more important questions: What to wear to a wedding in 2022. Some couples have had to postpone their big day more than once in the last two years so they are getting bigger and better than before. On the other hand, some are willing to get it right and keep it simple. I have an invitation for a beach wedding, a barn wedding and a “low key” town wedding (I’m sure that would be the opposite). Ticking time for me to say “I do” to different wedding guest attire.
When I start the occasion-wear shopping process, I like to scroll through my Instagram search page and Pinterest for inspiration. Once I have a general idea of what I’m going for, I consult with experts — most retailers have dedicated pages on their site for wedding dresses. For example, Amazon has a complete hub for brides, guests, bridesmaids and bachelorette parties with clothing options at every price point.
Searching through virtually every site on the internet is obviously very time consuming. While I can keep it simple and find a classic silk outfit to wear for every occasion, it is not in my nature to waste the opportunity to get dressed (or wear something new and shiny). Since I spent the day making combos for my final wedding guest costumes, I thought I could share them with other guests if needed (welcome). Keep reading for seven complete looks for seven places. I did not arrive 21 clothing The situation is still there, but it is only a matter of time.
Best Venue: Let’s start with the beach. As a guest, I’m always excited to attend a beach wedding because I know I’m here for a beautiful, windy night. Due to the environment, beach weddings are usually a little more casual than in other places. This means you can be comfortable and play with your accessories. This year, I’m excited to wear brightly colored wedding dresses to the beach and shine in my Golden Hour Instagram photos.

Kyra maxi dress
This lime dress is a perfect vibe for a beach wedding (which is the perfect place to show off a little more skin). You are guaranteed to get great photos with the sea in the background against the tangy color of the dress.

Jam-3 slide sandals
Let’s be honest, your shoes probably won’t last long at a beach wedding. This pair is easy to slip on and off.

How we chic top handle bag
I like to add an unexpected pop of color and this orange bag is part of the most beautiful statement. Also, you will want to use it throughout the summer.
If you are attending a city wedding, your cooling factor is automatically increased. City weddings aren’t for everyone because they can be a bit of a logical nightmare (can you imagine having 200 people in any New York City restaurant?). Carrie Bradshaw is the ultimate city wedding museum so I would only recommend the gorgeous dress she wore Sex and the City Reboot

Diana gown
A city wedding gives you the opportunity to wear something smooth and modern. This soft gorgeous dress is known for being incredibly flattering and you will be able to wear it to many other events.

Carmen heeled sandals
You have to explain to everyone that these heels are not Botega Veneta and they are really good Steve Madden Dupes for less than $ 100.

Small bag
Since the combination of dress and shoes is simple, you have space to run your accessories. I love this unexpected fringe evening bag.
I have not yet attended a traditional wedding at the shrine so I am taking inspiration from the royal family. Wearing a sophisticated (and more conservative) dress is always a good call but that doesn’t mean you can’t have some personality in your accessories. Instead of wearing a huge hat (unless it’s your vibe, please), rock a statement bag like a feather clutch.

Low-back bias dress
Anthropology has a great selection of wedding guest dresses in regular, mini and plus sizes. This low-back dress looks a bit skinny though still conservative enough to be worn in a church-like setting.

Rosie ankle tie sandals
Ankle tie sandals are one of my favorite shoe trends because the style lengthens and looks super chic. By open edit this pair looks much more expensive than this.

Ostrich feather embellished clutch
This feather clutch comes with a chain cross-body strap so you can wear it hands-free.
There’s something so dreamy about a rustic barn wedding (it’s probably the inevitable string light). I personally plan to go in a floral super-feminine direction with my barn wedding look. I love how delicate florals and ruffles contrast against the aging barn and you won’t look over or underdressed.

Ruffled floral dress
This bright floral dress is perfect for the wedding location in the barn because even though it is formal, it still matches the more rustic atmosphere. Fine sleeves enhance the outfit and people won’t believe you got it for just 50 50.

This pair of pink heels add an extra girly flair to the look.

Mini Pleated Clutch with Bow
This girly bag with bow details will hold everything you need for the night.
Consider this my official request to invite to your vineyard wedding – I already have a dress! Wear shades of green, yellow, blue or purple and red and play in the shade of the vineyard (and of course wine). A vineyard is a setting where I feel comfortable wearing a short dress until the details of the dress can fill the lack of length: puff-sleeves, raffles and bows are all fair play.

Gisele dress
Wearing a short dress for a wedding is perfectly fine as long as it is still formal enough for the occasion. This Tiered Ullah Johnson dress looks like it was made for wine tasting in a vineyard.

Pouch mini bag
Forget a clutch and carry this wrist-sling bag instead! Smooth skin will stay comfortable in your arms throughout the evening.
If the invitation says black tie, this is an opportunity to treat the evening like your personal mate gala. Since you literally can’t wear extra clothes, leave it at that! Play with formal trends like feathers, sequins and oversized silhouettes to differentiate your look.

Floral sequin midi dress with feathers
A fancy dress code means more space to have some fun with a fashion statement! This sequined dress with feather trim reminds me Great Gatsby In a good way.

Strappy tie mid heel sandals in green
The dress is running a lot so it is better to keep the shoe choice on the easy side. This pair will appreciate without competing with the outfit.

Box handbags
Think outside the box and get this box handbag to appreciate the look.
The bride has to look her best during this time, because of posterity more than anything else Bridgeton Use the garden as the fan board of your mood and lean in shades of pink. From slip dresses to corset-style gowns, everything works in a garden setting — just be careful not to mistake the venue for casual. A dramatic floor length dress is absolutely the way to go.

Demre dress
I’m personally a big fan of the Phanom Moon brand which specializes in dreamy linen clothing. This pink ruffled gown literally takes the theme of the garden (in the best way possible) and will look stunning in the photo.
